The complete list of Pittsburgh Penguins draft spots is out and it's going to be a rough road.
With the 2022-23 NHL season officially concluded, every team is turning their attention to the offseason, and the upcoming Draft.
Barring any trades involving the selection, the Pittsburgh Penguins are set to enter the draft with possession of their first round pick for the second consecutive season.
It’s not a guarantee that the Penguins will retain that pick and use it on a prospect, but it would be the first time they made a selection in the first round in back-to-back drafts since 2011 and 2012.
Following handing out the Stanley Cup to the Vegas Golden Knights, the NHL released the official order for all seven rounds of the 2023 Draft.
As of right now, here is where the Penguins will be making their selections.
Round 1: Pick 14
Round 2: No Pick
Round 3: Pick 90 (From New Jersey Devils)
Round 4: No Pick
Round 5: Pick 142
Round 6: Pick 174
Round 7: Pick 217 (From Toronto Maple Leafs)
Round 7: Pick 223 (From Florida Panthers)
Kyle Dubas and company will have their work cut out for them at the draft table this year.
With Only six selections through seven rounds and each of the traded picks are deeper than the normal location, it’s not going to be an easy year.
Dubas has historically done well at the draft, however, trading picks and players around for more selections in later rounds.
We will have to wait and see what Dubas decides to do with the Penguins’ selections, especially that first round pick that might prove to be valuable.
