Sidney Crosby Closing in on Multiple Milestones
Ever since breaking into the league in 2005, Sidney Crosby has consistently been the best skater on the Pittsburgh Penguins roster.
Crosby has regularly led the Penguins in scoring and with almost 1,200 games played in his career, he hasn’t shown signs of slowing down.
Ready to enter the 19th season of his career, Crosby is in line to knock down a couple of huge career milestones.
1,000 Assists
Currently sitting at 952 career assists, Crosby is just 48 helpers shy of becoming the 14th player to ever reach 1,000.
Crosby is one of the most well-rounded players in the league, but his playmaking ability has always stood out.
Seven times over his career, Crosby has surpassed 60 helpers in a single season, including last year where he landed at 60 exactly.
Hitting 48 should be no problem for Crosby and could be reached before the All-Star break if things are going really well.
1,600 Points
This one will be a bit tougher, but some are slotting Crosby in to hit 100 points this season.
Currently holding 1,502 career points, all Crosby needs is 98 points to become just the 10th player in NHL history to hit 1,600.
While 1,600 is a good round number, he doesn’t need to reach it to really put his name among the elite.
10th All-Time in Points
Phil Esposito played 1,282 games in his career and put up a total of 1,590 points; as of right now, that is good for 10th all-time.

1,590 is also within striking distance of Crosby who is just 88 points shy of Esposito.
Crosby doesn’t need 100 points, or even to hit 1,600 and he can still put his name in one of the most prestigious spots in hockey.
In just 88 points, Crosby will be known as a top-10 points scorer in NHL history.
Crosby is yet to put up a season under a point-per-game, if he is able to stay healthy there’s a very good chance he ends the year with each of these milestones under his belt.
