After being a healthy scratch for the San Jose Sharks last night, it is only fitting to figure out what Anthony Duclair's trade value is.
Duclair was scratched last night against the Colorado Avalanche for a mental reset by head coach David Quinn.
"Sometimes, sitting above and watching kind of gives a chance to press reset and get back at it," Quinn said.
Duclair was offside on what looked to be Mikael Granlund's game-tying goal against the Arizona Coyotes.
Duclair is a pending UFA with a $3 million cap hit. The Sharks are Duclair's seventh team in the NHL. He has shown that he can be an effective scorer in the NHL. In 2021-22, Duclair scored 31 goals for the Florida Panthers. He is a speedy winger who could help a team come playoff time.
The New York Rangers need help on the wing. They currently sit in first place in the Metro Division and look to be prime contenders for the Stanley Cup.
They are dealing with a lot of injuries to their forward core. Kaapo Kakko is out long-term with a lower-body injury, and Filip Chytil has been out with a concussion.
The Rangers brought former Winnipeg Jets captain Blake Wheeler to be a depth forward, but he has moved to the top line due to injuries.
New York has some draft capital to spare as they still hold their first and second-round picks in the 2024 NHL Draft. According to CapFriendly, they project to have $6.5 million in cap space, which is more than enough to get Duclair.

The Boston Bruins are a sneaky option for acquiring Duclair. He would be in a second-line scoring role behind David Pastrnak.
Per CapFriendly, the Bruins project to have $2,857,500 come the March 8 trade deadline.
The Bruins are also a young team after the departures of Patrice Bergeron and David Krejci. Duclair has shown he can bring some leadership to young players in San Jose.
The Sharks won't want to retain any salary, so the Bruins will likely have to include a player with a draft pick to San Jose.
The Edmonton Oilers have figured out their game and are arguably the hottest team in the NHL. Their goaltending has found the form needed to be successful in the playoffs.
While they don't project to have much cap space at the deadline, Oilers GM Ken Holland is in the last year of his contract and might get desperate to make a move.
Phillip Broberg's name has been floating in trade rumors, and could be in a deal with the Sharks.
Edmonton, like the Rangers, owns their first and second-round picks for the 2024 NHL draft. With some salary maneuvering, a deal with the Oilers could work.
