After terminating his contract with the Detroit Red Wings, Filip Zadina enters his first season with the San Jose Sharks.

Zadina scored his first goal of the season, which is also the first goal of the Sharks season.

Zadina has been searching for confidence in his game, and scoring in the season's first game will certainly help.

"He's a hard player. He skates fast. He wants to be thorough. Sometimes, slowing down is the right thing to do. Have a little bit more patience, a little bit more poise," San Jose Sharks Head Coach David Quinn said about Zadina on Wednesday. "He is very hard on himself. It's been a tough go for him, so we all have to be patient in letting him play through some of his frustrations."

Zadina's skill and speed were on display throughout the evening. With a fresh start in San Jose, the Czech forward has a chance to revitalize the career that made him the No. 6 overall pick in the 2018 draft.

"I am really fortunate that I can play with with Tomas [Hertl]. I said before, he's one of the best centers in the league, and I'm really happy that I get the chance to play on the same line with him," Zadina said. "I'll do whatever it takes to stick with him as long as I can and just work my ass off every single shift."

Zadina got his season off on the right foot and will look to keep it going on Saturday against the Colorado Avalanche.
