Robert Edwards-USA TODAY Sports - Sharks Coaching Consistency Shouldn't Go Unnoticed

Mario Ferraro has had to undergo three coaching changes during his time with the San Jose Sharks.

This season, San Jose retained David Quinn and his entire staff. That means Ryan Warsofsky will run the defense.

"Warsofsky's great. He's he's been an awesome coach," Ferraro said. "He's been a great person to be able to approach and talk to you and ask questions and to learn from."

Ferraro feels that he can come in with expectations of what the coaching staff wants from him and the defense group as a whole.

"I haven't had the same coach for an extended period of time in a while," Ferraro said. "It's a little easier knowing what's expected of me, and I think it's easier for other guys as well. So it's been a benefit for sure."

Players search for consistency throughout their game, and having the same staff allows players not to overthink about what is wanted. They can connect more easily with the staff and apply what is needed due to prior experience.

The same goes for Matt Benning. Benning has played for three different organizations. Even as a seasoned veteran, Benning sees the benefit of having continuity with the coaching staff.

"It's knowing what our systems are for the most part and just having that relationship early on with the coaches that we developed last year," Benning said.

Quinn has been keying on the breakout for the San Jose Sharks this season. With Benning's familiarity with the system, he can connect more with some of the players on the backend about it.

"I think just having the ability to have dialogue between players and coaches and learn off each other," Benning said. "We're here to learn off them, and they're here to learn off us. It's been good."

Quinn and his staff have a plan in mind about how the team should play, and now, in year two, the players should be able to become experts in the system.
