The Carolina Hurricanes dominated the San Jose Sharks with a 6-3 win.

The San Jose Sharks were thoroughly dominated by the Carolina Hurricanes last night, 6-3.
The Canes outshot the Sharks 42-16 and scored four third-period goals. San Jose was leading 3-2 entering the final frame.
Here are three main takeaways from last night's debacle:
San Jose Sharks head coach David Quinn was visibly upset after the game. He said he felt the team was "way too soft and way too slow."
"When you don't skate and hit, you're gonna get penalties," Quinn said. "That's what happened. Just bad penalties. Lazy, lazy penalties."
The game had 13 combined penalties, with San Jose taking seven. The Canes went 3/7 on the powerplay and also scored a shorthanded goal.
Quinn felt that there was not enough physicality or urgency throughout the team.
Mackenzie Blackwood was yet again amazing last night. Blackwood stopped 36 shots and kept his team in it.
San Jose was continually held in the defensive zone for extended periods. At times, it felt like the Hurricanes were on a powerplay with how they moved the puck around.
Blackwood made two spectacular saves with his glove, where he went post to post. He did the same thing with his blocker side as well.
The San Jose Sharks have been hemmed in the defensive zone in all three games this season.
Throughout training camp and early season practices, Quinn has emphasized being able to break the puck out cleanly. That has yet to happen this season.
Although the shot totals against are high, the Sharks haven't given up many grade-A chances. They can't get the puck out, adding more chances against them.
When they get the puck out, the Sharks are often stopped in the neutral zone or get one shot and pushed back out.
If the San Jose Sharks are going to win games this season, then this needs to get fixed quickly.
