Sharks Practice Returns Tomorrow! What Are The Guys Excited For When They Get Back?

The San Jose Sharks return to the ice tomorrow for their first practice after their bye week. Part of THN's quick-hit questions was asking the guys what they were excited about for the return.

The San Jose Sharks return to the ice tomorrow for their first practice after their bye week. Part of THN's quick-hit questions was asking the guys what they were excited about for the return.

As usual, Mackenzie Blackwood is a jokester but gave me a good answer. Many of the guys are excited to get back to work, as the Sharks have been rolling slightly before the break. They are 5-3-2 in their last ten games.

    Fabian Zetterlund

Zetterlund has been a good player for San Jose this season. With 14 goals, he sits only behind Tomas Hertl's 15 for the team lead.

"Continue to play good and just step it up a little bit," Zetterlund said. "Get some rest, and then be ready to go."

Zetterlund should have plenty of rest in his back pocket after his trip to Cabo with William Eklund.

    William Eklund

Like Zettelrund, Eklund wants to come back without missing a beat. He hopes the Sharks will continue to play good hockey and be competitive in games.

"To keep doing what we've been doing the last couple weeks," Eklund said.

Eklund's offensive game has slowly begun to return. He is piling up assists, on Marc-Edouard Vlasic goals no less, and scored a beauty of a goal against the Los Angeles Kings.

    Luke Kunin

Kunin feels the rest will do him and the team some good. Mentally, the Sharks were in a good place heading into the break, so getting back on the ice should come naturally.

"Let's get back at it. I think it'll be a good little break, reset for all of us," Kunin said. "Good to get some time off and come back refreshed, ready to go."

Kunin will be coming home from Minnesota.

    Nico Sturm

The first jokester of the group was Nico Sturm. Sturm and Kunin are locker mates, and Sturm's answer to what he's looking forward to most shows their friendship.

    "Luke Kunin," Sturm said.

Sturm's work ethic is infectious for the entire Sharks roster, but he also has some good personality. He enjoys the hockey game and his friends while doing it.

    Mackenzie Blackwood

After finally getting through his "no comment" saga, Blackwood said with a big smile that he was looking forward to being with the guys in the room.

"Being back with my friends," Blackwood said proudly.

He stared straight at Ty Emberson to make sure he was heard. The camaraderie of that corner of the locker room is unmatched.

    Ty Emberson

Emberson's response to this question directly related to what Blackwood said, except Emberson was more specific.

"Hanging out with Mackenzie," Emberson said.

Blackwood and I responded with a loud "awwwwwww" simultaneously after Emebrson's response.

Emberson missed the Sharks' last game against the Anaheim Ducks due to an injury, but should be healthy following the team's time off.

    Jacob MacDonald

Jacob MacDonald's response was genuine. He has had an injury-riddled season and wants to remain healthy the rest of the way.

"I think we've had a lot of good things going for us the last couple of weeks into this [break]," MacDonald said. "We've got to stay on that track in the right direction."

MacDonald has six goals in 19 games this season.

    David Quinn

David Quinn is returning from hip replacement surgery tomorrow but said he will be on the ice for practice.

"Just getting back together with them," Quinn said. "It'll be a long time, so it'd be good to get back together with them and finish the season on a strong note."

Quinn told the San Jose media that he doesn't expect to miss any time on the ice for practice or behind the bench for a game.

The Sharks will return to the ice for practice tomorrow, and THN will continue to be there for all the coverage this season.
