James Guillory-USA TODAY Sports - Brent Burns Visits with Sharks; Doesn't See Retirement Soon

Former San Jose Sharks defenseman Brent Burns returned to the Bay Area and visited some old friends.

Burns spoke to the San Jose media after the Carolina Hurricanes morning skate today and revealed he saw Joe Thornton last night.

"Another bearded brother of mine and Mario Ferraro," Burns said. "[I will] see a bunch of guys tonight."

At 38-years-old Brent Burns is showing no sign of slowing down. He keeps himself in great shape, and retirement doesn't seem like it's anywhere close.

"Until they drag me off by my ears," Burns joked. "I think we're so blessed to do this every day. I've been really lucky to learn from some people how to take care of yourself, and obviously, there's a lot of luck in that."

Hurricanes head coach Rod Brind'Amour talked about Burns' preparation as well.

"How much work you put in, and he's done that his whole career," Brind'Amour said. "I think he'll be a player where it will be up to him when he decides to pack it up."

Brind'Amour also echoed that luck does contribute to the longevity of players.

"A lot of that is just luck, to be quite honest," Brind'Amour said. "It's not luck in the sense to get yourself in that situation. You have these guys [who] all prepared and take care of themselves. But you know, it's a freak thing here or there that can get you out of it."

Burns will play his 1337 career game tonight. Could we see Burns challenging Marleau for the most games played in history?
