William Eklund scored the overtime game-winning goal for the San Jose Sharks as they defeated the Washington Capitals 2-1 and extended their winning streak to three.

Eklund took a one-timer from the right circle after Mikael Granlund slid a pass over from the point. Macklin Celebrini got the secondary assist, extending his point streak to five.

Tyler Toffoli scored the other goal for the Sharks, and Mackenzie Blackwood made 16 first-period saves and finished with 27 saves.

The Capitals' four-game winning streak came to an end tonight. Nick Dowd scored the only goal for Washington, and Logan Thompson made 29 saves.

Toffoli ended a seven-game goalless drought with a wrist shot from the point that beat Thompson over the blocker. Toffoli became the second Sharks player to reach ten goals this season.

Dowd tied the game at one after miscommunication during the faceoff with the Sharks, which allowed him to be wide open on the far side.
