Brandon Hagel scored twice, Nick Paul, Cam Atkinson, and Connor Geekie scored for the Lightning, and Andrei Vasilevskiy made 20 saves.

Alexander Wennberg scored the only goal for the Sharks, who looked outclassed. Vitek Vanecek started the game but gave up five goals on 12 shots. Mackenzie Blackwood entered the game and made 21 saves.

It wasn't the Sharks' night, as they bled high-quality shots against them and couldn't convert their chances. Vanecek had a tough night, but so did the team.

The Sharks must turn the page quickly as they will visit the defending Stanley Cup Champions, the Florida Panthers, on Saturday.

Atkinson deflected home his third goal of the season after a failed breakout from the Sharks and gave the Lightning a 1-0 lead 1:26 into the first.

After Granlund was stopped on one end, Geekie scored on the other to make it 2-0 Lightning. 

Hagel makes it 3-0 after the Sharks lost assignments on a defensive zone faceoff.

Hagel quickly makes it 4-0 with a terrific backhand goal around Rutta and Vanecek.

Guentzel makes it a 5-0 game with a powerplay goal.

Anthony Cirelli makes it a 6-0 lead with a deflection in front of Blackwood.

Nick Perbix makes it 7-0.

Wennberg scores his 7th goal of the season 14 seconds into the third period. 

Nick Paul makes it 8-1.
