Stan Szeto-USA TODAY Sports - Miller's Opinion: Projecting Line Combinations For a Fully Healthy Sharks Roster

With the San Jose Sharks inching closer to full health, I thought I would make lines for head coach David Quinn.

Wednesday could be the first game all season where the Sharks have their top four centers in the lineup. Mikael Granlund looks ready to return after an upper-body injury he suffered against the Chicago Blackhawks.

The first combination is basic, with the four centers playing their natural position.

    Zetterlund-Hertl-Hoffman
    Barabanov-Couture-Duclair
    Eklund-Granlund-Kunin
    Smith-Sturm-Zadina

    Ferraro-Emberson
    Thrun-Rutta
    Okhotiuk-Vlasic

With Tomas Hertl and Granlund back, William Eklund should shift back to the left wing. While Eklund played well at center, he fits this current roster as a winger.

Granlund has played at the wing for parts of his career, and Quinn has even said that when Logan Couture initially returned, Granlund playing wing wouldn't be out of the question.

    Zetterlund-Hertl-Duclair
    Barabanov-Couture-Granlund
    Eklund-Sturm-Kunin
    Zadina-Carpenter-Hoffman

    Ferraro-Emberson
    Thrun-Rutta
    Okhotiuk-Vlasic

Eklund recently played well with Nico Sturm and Luke Kunin. He had been in a cold spell before joining that line and scored against the Los Angeles Kings while playing on that line.

The only reason why he was shifted off this line was due to Hertl's injury. San Jose was so close to the All-Star break that it made no sense to recall someone from the AHL.

For the next lineup I've made, I want to call the Trade Deadline Lineup. These lines will entail loading up the top lines with the top trade pieces to attempt to boost trade value ahead of the March 8th deadline.

    Barabanov-Hertl-Duclair
    Granlund-Couture-Hoffman
    Eklund-Sturm-Zetterlund
    Labanc-Carpenter-Kunin

    Ferraro-Emberson
    Thrun-Rutta
    Okhotiuk-Vlasic

While it doesn't look significantly different from the previous lineup, the top-six forwards have had trade rumors about them. This also is the first lineup that has Kevin Labanc in it.

For my last lineup, I will create what I believe is the optimal lineup for the San Jose Sharks.

    Barabanov-Hertl-Zetterlund
    Eklund-Couture-Granlund
    Duclair-Sturm-Kunin
    Smith-Carpenter-Zadina

    Ferraro-Emberson
    Thrun-Rutta
    Okhotiuk-Vlasic

The second line is one I'd love to see. Eklund has shown that he has chemistry with Granlund. He also hasn't had an opportunity to play with Logan Couture since he returned from injury. I think that line would have the potential to be the Sharks' best offensive line.
