The London Knights won the 2025 Memorial Cup last night after beating the Medicine Hat Tigers 4-1.

The win comes one year after the Knights lost in the 2024 Memorial Cup against the Saginaw Spirit. They used that loss as fuel and went on to dominate the OHL and later the Memorial Cup.

The San Jose Sharks had two prospects who were part of that Knights team and can now call themselves champions.

Sam Dickinson and Kasper Halttunen both played big roles in the Knights’ title run. In 17 OHL playoff games, Dickinson recorded 31 points. He followed that up with six assists in five games at the Memorial Cup. As for Halttunen, he was named OHL Playoffs MVP after scoring 15 goals and 21 points in 17 games. In the Memorial Cup, he added two goals and two assists for four points in five games.

It’s expected that Dickinson will compete for a spot with the Sharks next season. But there’s still a chance he returns to the OHL for one more year if San Jose decides he needs more time.

Halttunen will also be one to watch in training camp. The Sharks need more scoring, and he’s shown this year he can find the back of the net. If he doesn’t make the team, the Sharks will have to decide whether to start him in the AHL or send him back to junior for one final season.

Congrats to both Dickinson and Halttunen on winning the Memorial Cup.
