We’re just 74 days away from the San Jose Sharks kicking off their season against the Vegas Golden Knights.
The number 74 has only been worn one time in franchise history. From 2015 to 2018, Dylan DeMelo wore 74 over his three years with the organization.
DeMelo, 32, was a member of the Sharks for three seasons and played 133 games. During that time, he scored three goals and 29 assists for 32 points, along with 137 blocks and 150 hits. His best season with the Sharks was in 2017-18, when he scored 20 points in 63 games.
After his time with the Sharks, he was traded to the Ottawa Senators in the Erik Karlsson blockbuster trade on Sept. 13, 2018.
He would go on to play two seasons for the Senators before being dealt to the Winnipeg Jets, where he spent six seasons. He is still a member of the Jets, where he is loved by the organization and the fans.
Over his 10-year career, he has played in 636 games and scored 20 goals and 143 assists for 163 points, as well as 863 blocks and 989 hits.
As of right now, there has only been one Shark to wear number 74. But the good news is, each day we count down is one day closer to the start of the 2025-26 NHL season.
