Dean Tait - Sport Shots - All Gas No Brakes: Ryan Warsofsky Building Competitive Culture For Sharks

First-year head coach Ryan Warsofsky hasn't given his San Jose Sharks team time to breathe as he builds his competitive culture.

From day one of training camp, Warsofsky has urged his team to move with pace. The players have responded and seemingly bought into Warsofsky's philosophies in a short amount of time.

"It's not that they're not in shape. This is a hard League. This is a hard league to win in," Warsofsky said. "It's a hard league to compete in, and we need to raise the bar for our organization."

The Sharks had a league-worst 19 wins last season and were non-competitive on multiple occasions.

Alternate captain Mario Ferraro emphasized that the team will "live and die" by Warsofsky's mottos.

"Warsofksy has his mottos that we're going after. I don't want to say them right now, but I'm sure you'll hear them throughout the year," Ferrao explained. "They're going to be around the locker room. We're going to we're going to live and die by them. It's an exciting time for us right now."

After explaining drills, Warsofsky has urged his players to move quickly to the starting positions. The head coach recognizes that time with players on the ice is limited and is not about to waste it.

"We're not going to waste time. Our time is limited on the ice, especially with the three hours we have with them in the building and the facility, so we can't waste time," Warsofsky said. "That's in our meetings. As a staff, we have to be prepared. That's just something that we do. The game of hockey is chaos, and we're going to try to create some chaos out there."

During the scrimmage on day three of training camp, there seemed to be an added level of intensity. Warsofsky felt it, too, as he said it was the best of the three days.

The Sharks will get their first day off of training camp tomorrow.
