The San Jose Sharks have made some adjustments to their leadership group.
Logan Couture is the team captain despite his injury status. There have been no thoughts about replacing him as the Sharks' captain despite the uncertainty of his injury.
Mario Ferraro will be an alternate captain for every game this season. Ferraro has been an alternate since 2021 and remained one since then.
Offseason additions Tyler Toffoli and Barclay Goodrow will be alternate captains and have an 'A' on their jersey during each Sharks home game.
Goodrow and Toffoli have both won Stanley Cups. Goodrow was most recently an alternate captain with the New York Rangers. Toffoli has skated on a line with the Sharks' top prospect, Macklin Celebrini, throughout training camp.
Luke Kunin and Mikael Granlund became alternate captains after last season's NHL trade deadline. They remain alternate captains during the Sharks road games.
"We're extremely fortunate to have a terrific group of talented and high-character players to serve as our leadership group for the 2024-25 season, led by Logan Couture as our captain," Sharks head coach Ryan Warsofsky said in a release. "Each of these players bring unique qualities and characteristics that not only show leadership by example but that will also serve as an extension of our coaching staff."
