Jerome Miron-USA TODAY Sports - Blackhawks Place Connor Bedard On IR Ten Days Before Sharks Visit

Chicago Blackhawks rookie superstar Connor Bedard was placed on IR today with a broken jaw, and he won't play against the San Jose Sharks in ten days.

Bedard was hit by New Jersey Devils defenseman Brendan Smith last night. Testing today revealed the rookie broke his jaw.

Bedard was having an insane rookie season with 15 goals and 18 assists in 39 games this season. His patented toe-drag release has been remarkable to watch.

He followed up his OT winner with a Michigan goal against the St. Louis Blues.

Unfortunately for Sharks fans, they won't get to watch the first matchup against the Blackhawks this season and see Connor Bedard. Bedard doesn't have a timeline for a return.

San Jose plays in Chicago again on March 17 and then at home on March 23, giving them two more chances to see the great Connor Bedard. The Calder race is wide open for other rookies to show they are stars in the NHL.
