Dean Tait - Sport Shots - Sharks' Macklin Celebrini Earns High Praise From National Prospect Insider

San Jose Sharks rookie Macklin Celebrini earned high praise from TSN's Craig Button.

Button appeared on SiriusXM NHL Network Radio and was asked about the Sharks star prospect. He had high praise for the 2024 No. 1 pick and said that a 70-point season for the rookie isn't impossible.

"We're not talking about they've shown an ability to perform. They've mastered it," Button said about Chicago Blackhawks centerman Connor Bedard and Celebrini. "We're talking about the Hobey Baker [winner], [the] best player in college hockey last season."

Celebrini won the award for his stellar season at Boston University.

"The San Jose Sharks are an improved team. Are they a playoff team? No," Button explained. "There's no reason for me, just like I didn't doubt Connor Bedard's ability to get 70 points last year [if he didn't get hurt], and there is no reason for me to say at this point in time that Macklin Celebrini can't do something similar."

Celebrini has fit right in with the Sharks during the first two days of training camp. He has commanded the puck and driven his line during the scrimmage portion.

"They are too good. I just go back to this; they have never shown an incapability to master the next level," Button proclaimed. "I think Macklin will be very successful."

Button is TSN's lead scout and has been one of the NHL's best insiders for evaluating talent.
