Former San Jose Sharks forward Mikael Granlund scored the overtime-winning goal for Team Finland at the 4 Nations Face-Off to lift his nation to a 4-3 win over rival Team Sweden.
Granlund, who is an alternate captain for Finland, had an assist in the 6-1 loss to Team USA on Thursday. This win gave Finland its first two points of the tourney and a chance to still make the championship match.
The 3-2-1-0 points system has changed the dynamic, as Sweden, Finland, and Canada all have two points. Canada still has to play its second game of the tournament, but a regulation loss to the Americans would make Monday's games much more exciting.
With this result, the USA can clinch a spot in the championship with a regulation win over Canada at 8 p.m. ET/5 p.m. PT on Saturday.
Granlund revitalized his career with the San Jose Sharks and was traded to the Dallas Stars on Feb. 1.
