Former San Jose Sharks forward Dylan Gambrell has signed a professional tryout with the Nashville Predators, per Anthony Di Marco of Daily Faceoff.
Gambrell was the Sharks’ second-round pick in the 2016 NHL Draft, and after his time with the University of Denver, he joined the Sharks for the end of the 2017-18 season.
Gambrell would spend the next few seasons splitting time between the Sharks and their American Hockey League affiliate, the San Jose Barracuda.
At the NHL level, Gambrell played 110 games for the Sharks and tallied a total of 23 points, 10 of which were goals. Meanwhile, for the Barracuda, He recorded 58 points in 69 games.
Gambrell was traded to the Ottawa Senators for a seventh-round pick in October of 2021. After two seasons with the Senators, he played in the AHL for the Toronto Marlies and the Cleveland Monsters, playing a single season with each team.
After two seasons out of the NHL, his professional tryout with the Predators will give him an opportunity to fight for a roster spot once again, and at the very least, could lead to another AHL contract for him. At this point, his future is in his own hands.
