Stan Szeto-USA TODAY Sports - Hi Barbie! Alexander Barabanov Ready For Sharks Return

The San Jose Sharks get a core player back for tonight's game as Alexander Barabanov returns.

Barabanov has been out since Oct. 24 after he broke his finger against the Florida Panthers.

Barabanov struggled in his six games. He has no points. That should change soon as he skated on a line with Tomas Hertl and William Eklund. He also was in the bumper position on the second powerplay unit.

"I felt guilty," Barabanov told THN. "The game means so much to me and the boys. I just want to play."

Barabanov had a career season last year. In 68 games, he had 47 points (15 goals, 32 assists). His play complimented Hertl very well, and his return should boost the Sharks' offensive output.

"It helps. We've missed him for sure," Sharks coach David Quinn said about Barabanov. "He's an NHL player, a 50-point guy. He protects pucks and has the puck [a lot]. We need more of that."

The Sharks are looking for their second straight road win as they take on the New York Rangers tonight.

"I need a couple of shifts to feel the game," Barabanov said. "Maybe a couple of good passes. A couple of hits [will help]."
