The Sharks have hit on many of their high first-round draft picks, but the disparity between Macklin Celebrini and whoever gets drafted second overall could change the course of Mike Grier's rebuild of the San Jose Sharks.
While picking second or third at the 2024 NHL Draft isn't a bad thing, being able to draft a player like Celebrini would give a massive boost to any rebuilding team. There is no clear No. 2 pick in this season's draft, but there is a blatantly obvious No. 1, and for a team that finished last in the NHL with 19 wins, getting the first overall pick would breathe a massive ray of light into a franchises front office and fan base.
The Sharks have a 25.5% chance of winning this season's draft lottery.
Last season, the Sharks had the fourth-best odds to win the Lottery and did not move from their position. They selected Will Smith.
