BREAKING: Sharks Lose Mackenzie Blackwood To Injury Against Devils

In the first period, San Jose Sharks goalie Mackenzie Blackwood left the game tonight against his former team, the New Jersey Devils.

Kaapo Kahkonen replaced Blackwood at the 17:34 mark of the first period. The netminder appeared to injure himself after making a save just before a commercial break. 

The team announced that he won't return to tonight's game but did not provide an update as to what type of injury he is dealing with. 

Sharks head coach will likely have an update on the situation after the game. 

Blackwood has dealt with injuries for much of his career, but he has been healthy other than missing a couple of games this season due to illness. Injuries are arguably one of the main reasons he was traded from New Jersey to San Jose.
