San Jose Sharks No. 1 pick Macklin Celebrini has a particular roommate for his rookie season.

Macklin Celebrini will live with San Jose Sharks legend Joe Thornton for his rookie season.
The 2024 No. 1 pick is participating in the NHLPA's Rookie Showcase and told reporters that he would stay with Jumbo Joe.
Celebrini is at the showcase with two teammates, Will Smith and Shakir Mukhamadullin. This is the first time fans have seen Smith and Celebrini in a full Sharks uniform.
Living with Thornton might be one of the most beneficial things for Celebrini's development. As a former top pick, Thornton can give the 18-year-old some advice on how to handle pressure, adversity, and success throughout a busy rookie year.
Jumbo's personality should also alleviate some of the stress that comes naturally during an NHL season. GM Mike Grier joked that Thornton is the Sharks organization's "Director of Vibes," but Thornton does not officially have a role within the organization.
