Bob DeChiara-USA TODAY Sports - Postgame Reactions: Hertl Talks Kidney Stone; Quinn, Carpenter, & Sturm React to Sharks 3-0 Loss to Bruins

The San Jose Sharks lost 3-0 to the Boston Bruins on Thursday night.

Tomas Hertl revealed he had a kidney stone and had surgery on Monday to remove it. Hertl missed one game, which is incredible.

Here are the reactions from Hertl, Ryan Carpenter, Nico Sturm, and head coach David Quinn.

    Tomas Hertl Quotes:

"I had a kidney stone. I had surgery on Monday. I wasn't feeling so great, but everything cooled off, so I decided to play tonight. That's why I wasn't skating. It was a shitty situation because it was pretty painful. I felt good for tonight, so I jumped on."

"After four days doing absolutely nothing, your legs get stiff."

"Just like nobody wants to take a shot. Everybody tried passing, and we had zero shots with our five entries. We have to be quick. Put something on the net because we got two extra guys, so we should get a rebound and stuff, but we didn't even get a shot."

    David Quinn Quotes:

"Too many turnovers, really. I thought that we had a good first period. [I] thought we played a pretty good tempo with a puck. I thought it really got loose in the second period. I thought the turnovers really hurt us and really ignited their game. I thought they brought it to another level after that period got going, and we weren't able to control it."

"I mean, we've given it to them on the five-on-three, and that just can't happen. You got a full minute and a half chance to get one, and all of a sudden, it is two to one. It's a hockey game. You could feel the whole bench kind of get deflated a little bit. Then they get the third on their powerplay. Tough to come back from that."

    Nico Sturm Quotes:

"It kind of felt similar to the second period the other night. Definitely not our best period. We just kind of got away from our game plan a little bit. I thought we played an exceptional first period for it being a road period. Long flight yesterday. Tough building to play in, a great team that's just lost a couple of games. they came out hard. I thought at first period was fantastic."

"It's inconsistencies. Just kind of been the story of the season, you know?"

"[We] want to stand up for each other. That was something that we addressed at the start of the season, where we had a couple of incidents. There were some questions coming from the outside. I thought the last couple of games, there were a lot of scrums. In the Vancouver game [and] Washington game, guys stepped up for each other."

    Ryan Carpenter Quotes:

"I'm fine. I mean, that happens, and Zetterlund comes in and sticks up for me. Guys were in it emotionally. Smitty with the fight, too. Just disappointed with the outcome."

"That was the message from coach between the second and third. It felt like they just stayed the course, and I felt like some of our turnovers and in D-zone as a five-man unit getting out [cost us]. I mean turnovers in the neutral zone, especially in the second period with the long change, leaves your D out there for longer shifts."

"There are things we have to learn from tonight, like every game. That's the beauty of hockey, [you] play in less than 24 hours. So, a chance for all of us to respond."
