According to reports, the San Jose Sharks are "thought to be deep in the process" with Marco Sturm to become the Sharks' next head coach.
Sheng Peng of San Jose Hockey Now is at the 2024 NHL Draft Combine and wrote, "A league source told SJHN yesterday: "I think Sturm is deep in the process."
No decision has been made yet, and other reports have suggested that assistant coach Ryan Warsofsky is the "front runner" for the job.
Once again, no decision has been made as GM Mike Grier mulls his options. Sportnet's Elliotte Friedman backs up the reports that Peng has released. On last Friday's episode of his 32 Thoughts podcast, Friedman said that Sturm, Warsofsky, and Jeff Blashill were given second interviews.
Friedman suggested that Blashill's chances of being hired have dropped.
The Draft Combine wraps up this weekend, and Grier will likely want to hire a head coach before the NHL Draft on June 28th.
