Ferraro has been subject to trade rumors for two years, as his style of play and reasonable cap hit of $3.25 million would make him a nice addition to a playoff team. The Toronto Maple Leafs have been rumored to be in the mix for Ferraro, but nothing has been done yet.

The 2024-25 season is Ferraro's sixth in the NHL, and he hasn't come close to playoff hockey. In 63 games this season, Ferraro has a career-high in goals with five and six assists and is -22.

Ferraro has never been on a winning NHL franchise in his career, so the thought process could be that there is some locked potential that a winning environment might be able to bring out.
