The San Jose Barracuda's season is over after they were eliminated from the AHL playoffs last night by the Colorado Eagles.
After sweeping the Ontario Reign 2-0 in the first round, they couldn’t carry that momentum into the second round.
The Eagles came into the series as the third-best team in the league and the top team in the Pacific Division, which put the Barracuda behind the eight-ball right from the start.
In Game 1, Colorado took control with a 6-3 win to go up 1-0. But the Barracuda responded in Game 2, grinding out a 2-1 win in overtime to tie the series at 1-1. Unfortunately, that would be their only win of the round. They lost Game 3 in overtime 3-2, and then dropped Game 4 by a score of 3-1 to end the series.
Still, it was a solid season that brought playoff hockey back to San Jose for the first time in a while. They made some good strides, but couldn’t quite get over the hump against a tough Eagles squad. Now, the focus shifts to the offseason and figuring out how to make both the Barracuda and the San Jose Sharks better moving forward.
