The San Jose Sharks have announced that they have made cuts to their 2025 training camp roster.

They started camp with 64 players invited and have now trimmed it by seven players, with many of the cuts returning to their respective junior teams for the 2025-26 season.

Starting with the forwards, the Sharks have cut both Max Heise and Teddy Mutryn. Heise will return to the WHL and play for the Prince Albert Raiders, while Mutryn will head to the QMJHL and play with the Moncton Wildcats.

Next up, the defensemen. The Sharks have cut Jack Bar, John Gormley, and Artem Guryev from camp. Bar, a Harvard University graduate, was invited to camp on a tryout, so being cut means he has been released. Gormley played last season with the San Jose Barracuda of the AHL and the Wichita Thunder in the ECHL. He will most likely return to those teams this season after taking part in the Barracuda’s training camp in the next few weeks. Guryev is in a similar situation and will most likely play for either the Barracuda or Thunder this upcoming season.

Lastly, the goalies. The Sharks have cut their first-round pick Joshua Ravensbergen as well as Christian Kirsch from camp. Ravensbergen will return to the WHL and play for the Prince George Cougars, while Kirsch is heading to the OHL to suit up for the Kitchener Rangers.

All in all, there weren’t any big surprises with this first round of cuts. None of the seven players listed above played in the preseason game last night. They will now join their respective teams and continue to develop.

The Sharks’ training camp count is now at 56 players (34 forwards, 17 defensemen, 5 goalies). The full updated roster can be found here.
