Logan Couture joined the San Jose Sharks for their morning skate today for the first time all season.

"It was weird first going out there. It has just been me, Carpenter, and Lindblom for the last two weeks, so it's good to have more bodies," Couture said. "It felt like there were a million people on the ice, but I just tried to stay out of the way and jumped in a few drills, which is nice. I felt like I was part of the team again. It's good to be around the guys."

The Sharks are facing the Los Angeles Kings tonight, but Couture did not participate in any pregame drills for preparation. Despite not being a full participant, Couture couldn't stop smiling.

"This is the game I love. Not being able to play it for a long time sucks. So it makes me happy," Couture said.

Couture learned last night that he would participate in today's morning skate. He told the media he'd seen a physical therapist in San Francisco four to five times weekly.

"Last night, laying in bed for a little while [I was] trying to remind myself of the systems we play and the drills that we're going to do in morning skate," Couture said. "I was excited and nervous at the same time. Being a part of the meeting was good. [I'm getting] my mind turned back on to hockey because the last few months have just been rehab, injury, and get healthy. I'm happy that I'm at the point now where I can focus on hockey."

Sharks head coach David Quinn said Couture's injury is truly a day-to-day situation.

"Zero timeline," Quinn smiled. "Can't reiterate that enough. There is zero timeline."

"As we kept saying over the last three months, it's day-to-day, and it's another step forward," Quinn said. He hasn't had any setbacks for the last few weeks, and that's really the goal every day. Take another step forward, and it was another step forward today."

Couture was thankful to Sharks legend Joe Thornton, Mike Ricci, and Aaron Dell for helping him on the ice while working alone.

"Thankfully, we've had a lot of good people here to try and keep me positive. Jumbo and Ricci, the last two weeks have been very good for me," Couture said. "Happy for [Dell]. He's a guy who I think can still play in the NHL. He was still good when we got on him last week, and he was actually going to come yesterday, but he got the more important call to go to Carolina, so we had to go goalie-less yesterday, but I hope he sticks there."

Couture said he hopes to join Sharks practice again tomorrow as a full participant. Every day after practice, he re-evaluates how he feels.
