Logan Couture has missed the entire San Jose Sharks season with a lower-body injury but has resumed skating again.
Per Sheng Peng of San Jose Hockey Now, the captain has hit the ice in a minimal fashion.
"When I say skating, I'm talking 15 minutes," Sharks head coach David Quinn told SJHN. "[He's] just getting going again."
There has been lots of uncertainty around the nature of Couture's injury. He has attempted to ramp up activity twice this season and has suffered a setback both times.
His return would be welcome, as the Sharks are currently without Ryan Carpenter. Nico Sturm missed the game against the New York Rangers but returned against the New York Islanders.
It will be interesting to see how he is deployed if and when Couture returns. Mikael Granlund and Tomas Hertl have been playing well as of late. Granlund shouldn't be moved down in the lineup.
With that in mind, we could see Couture or Granlund on the wing. But then, who gets dropped down? William Eklund has begun to produce offense. Fabian Zetterlund leads the team in goals. Zetterlund's line with Granlund and Anthony Duclair has been terrific during the Sharks' six-game road trip.
While Couture's return isn't imminent, getting another NHL quality player in the lineup will only help the Sharks continue their improvement.
