The San Jose Sharks have announced some roster moves today.
First, they claimed Vincent Iorio off waivers from the Washington Capitals.
Iorio, 22, is fairly new to the NHL. He has only played in nine games, which came during the 2022-23 and 2023-24 seasons. Since then, he has spent time in the American Hockey League with the Hershey Bears.
Iorio will likely not draw into the lineup too often, considering the Sharks currently carry eight defensemen. But he does give them an insurance policy in case more injuries pop up.
That brings us to the second move made today. The Sharks have placed Timothy Liljegren on injured reserve. He suffered an injury in last night's game against the Carolina Hurricanes. At this time, there is no exact timeline for his return, but the belief is that the injury is to his hand.
The other bit of news coming out of San Jose is that defenseman John Klingberg is listed as day-to-day after suffering an injury in the same game. He is currently questionable for Friday night's matchup against the Utah Mammoth.
It looks like both Vincent Desharnais and Shakir Mukhamadullin will draw into the lineup with Liljegren out and if Klingberg can’t go. For Desharnais, it’ll be his first game of the season. As for Mukhamadullin, he will draw back in after being replaced by Sam Dickinson.
