The clip of Edmonton Oilers superstar Connor McDavid yelling at his team after losing game two of the Stanley Cup Final, and San Jose Sharks defenseman Cody Ceci was there when it happened.
Amazon Prime's 'FACEOFF: Inside the NHL' series showed McDavid going ballistic after the team's game two loss to the Florida Panthers.
"He's intense. We're all intense. We go in there and lose game one. The stage is big. At that point, everything's on the line, and then we come out game two and play bad," Ceci said. "That was after game two, where we were just about to head home, and [it was a] wake-up call for us that it was slipping away."
The Oilers also lost game three in the series, but Ceci did not discuss what happened after that game.
San Jose traded for Ceci with the hopes of him bringing valuable knowledge to a young team, and after last night's blown lead, Ceci said it is a lesson to be learned.
"That's a lesson you learn over and over again," Ceci explained. "They were ready to pounce. They were coming hard and I just found that we sat back. I don't know if it's just kind of a new position for a lot of guys, but the more you sit back, the more they just keep coming, and they get their chances."
The Sharks play the Anaheim Ducks tomorrow at 7 p.m.
