The San Jose Sharks picked three players from the WHL during the second day of the 2024 NHL Draft.

The San Jose Sharks picked three players from the WHL during the second day of the 2024 NHL Draft.

Round 3 Pick 82: Carson Wetsch
Round 5 Pick 131: Colton Roberts
Round 5 Pick 143: Nate Misskey

Wetsch is a 6'2 RW who played for the Calgary Hitmen. In 67 games, he had 25 goals and 25 assists.

Wetsch told reporters he likes to agitate his opponents, fight, and play a hard-nosed style. He had 89 PIMs this season. He compared his style of play to Vancouver Canucks forward Dakota Joshua.

Roberts is a 6'4 defenseman who is a physical player but is a smooth skater.

"I am a 200-foot defenseman [who] really competes in every zone," Roberts said. "[I compare my game to] a little bit of Brandon Carlo and Alex Pietrangelo. Those guys are big, heavy guys who are two-way players."

Roberts and Wetsch said they grew up playing with Sharks No. 1 pick Macklin Celebrini.

"I grew up with Macklin, and I played with him when I was younger," Wetsch said. "Just seeing familiar faces on the team that you're probably gonna play for the future. It's great to have."

"I think he is a generational talent. I mean, that guy would go on the ice and score every shift," Roberts said. "Seeing him go first overall and fulfill his dreams is unbelievable."

Sharks Director of Amateur Scouting Chis Morehouse and Director of Player Personelle Scott Fitzgerald said drafting players who knew Celebrini wasn't planned.

With the draft complete, the Sharks will head to development camp on July 2nd.
