The San Jose Sharks finally got their first win of 2024 and ended their 12-game losing streak with a 3-2 over the Montreal Canadiens on Thursday night.

Right from the drop of the puck, the Sharks had energy and got on top of Montreal. Luck Kunin, Fabian Zetterlund, and Nikita Okhotiuk scored for San Jose. Mackenzie Blackwood made 34 saves.

Brendan Gallagher and Mike Matheson scored for Montreal, and Sam Montembeault made 29 saves.

Head coach David Quinn made some changes to the lines, which were effective. The lines seemingly had at least one elite skater on every line. Each center had a fast winger.

San Jose is the last team in the NHL to win ten games. The response from the team is encouraging as they embark on the second half of the season.

Justin Bailey gets on the forecheck and works the buck to the front of the net for Luke Kunin. Kunin scores his 6th goal of the season.

Fabian Zetterlund finds the soft spot in the slot and gets a pass from Tomas Hertl to give the Sharks a two-goal lead. Zetterlund is up to 12 goals on the season.

Brendan Gallagher quickly responds to get the Canadiens on the board. It was his seventh goal of the season.

Mikael Granlund takes the puck around the entire offensive zone and finds Nikita Okhotiuk for his first goal of the season and first as a Sharks player.

Mike Matheson shoots a bomb from the point with the Montreal net empty. It was Matheson's 7th goal of the season.
