Mikael Granlund, the San Jose Sharks leading scorer, did not participate in the team's first practice before its first game of a four-game road trip.
The forward leads all Sharks skaters with 16 points (6 goals, 10 assists) in 15 games. Granlund has been the Sharks' most consistent forward the past two seasons, giving head coach Ryan Warsofsky great utility options.
Warsofsky will likely have an update on the veteran forward following practice, as there were no indications that Granlund was dealing with an injury before the team's travel. The Sharks begin a back-to-back scenario with the first game coming tomorrow against the New Jersey Devils.
Granlund had been skating on the top line with Tyler Toffoli and 2024 No. 1 pick Macklin Celebrini. Granlund had two assists on both of Celebrini's goals in 20:57 of ice time on Thursday against the Minnesota Wild.
