In a JFresh poll, the San Jose Sharks were deemed the third most liked team in the NHL.
JFresh is an analytics page that set up a voting system with each team going head to head, and fans picked which team they liked more between two teams. San Jose was picked 61% of the time as a team that a fan liked more than another NHL club.
In a comment below the results post, JFresh states, "The only prompt was 'Which team would you root for in a head-to-head matchup.' It would show you two teams and ask you to pick one."
Only the Colorado Avalanche and Buffalo Sabres are more "well-liked" by NHL fans.
There was seemingly a correlation with teams who have struggled recently to have reasonably decent results, except for the Columbus Blue Jackets and maybe a few others. According to the poll, the Jackets finished as the 7th most disliked team, with 41.8% liked.
Being liked or disliked by fans doesn't affect the team, but other NHL fans' perceptions of the Sharks organization are relatively high, which isn't bad for the upstarting Sharks.
