San Jose Sharks forward Barclay Goodrow was placed on injured reserve with an upper-body injury he suffered against a hit from Ottawa Senators forward Ridly Greig.
Greig was assessed a two-minute minor for interference at 1:50 in the game.
Goodrow would play three more shifts following this play but would eventually lead the game. Sharks head coach Ryan Warsofsky told reporters he wasn't happy with the hit.
"Yeah, I watched [the hit]," Warsofsky said. "It happens quick. The refs have a quick decision to make. We can go back and look at it in slow motion, but yeah, it wasn't a great hit. We didn't like it, I can tell you that."
The hit was late, and Greig seemingly jumped into Goodrow. Warsofsky said the alternate captain didn't leave the game due to a concussion spotter.
"He just wasn't feeling right, so we took him in," Warsofsky said.
Greig is not facing any supplemental discipline.
Goodrow will be out a minimum of seven days and won't join the Sharks for the start of their six-game road trip, but Warsofsky said there is a chance he could join midway through.
