The San Jose Sharks have recalled their top defense prospect for the first time this season.

Shakir Mukhamadullin has been called up to the San Jose Sharks roster.
The team has not officially announced a transaction but confirmed to THN that the roster on the NHL Media Site is accurate. Jack Thompson is not listed on the Sharks roster per the media site but is also not listed on the AHL transaction page. Sheng Peng of SJHN is on-site on the road and received confirmation that Thompson was sent to the AHL.
Mukhamadullin dealt with an injury during training camp and would eventually be returned to the San Jose Barracuda in the AHL. In 14 games this season, the former New Jersey Devils first-round pick has six assists and is a -3. The young defenseman had two assists on Dec. 8 for the Barracuda.
The 22-year-old made his NHL debut with the San Jose Sharks last season and had one assist in three games.
It is unclear if Mukhamadullin has joined the team in Raleigh, NC, but he is listed as a healthy scratch for the Sharks' game against the Carolina Hurricanes on Thursday. San Jose's next game is against the St. Louis Blues.
