With the return of 2024 No. 1 pick Macklin Celebrini and Ty Dellandrea, the San Jose Sharks have sent prospects Ethan Cardwell and Danil Gushchin to the AHL.

Neither Gushchin nor Cardwell participated in the official portion of today's morning skate, but both players got on the ice afterward. Head coach Ryan Warsofsky said the team wanted to get through the morning skate before officially sending the two prospects to the San Jose Barracuda.

"I coached down there, and every time a guy comes down, they struggle. So go down there and have some urgency in your game [and] play the right way," Warsofsky said.
"Don't try to force things and cheat for points and cheat for offense; those things will come by playing the right way. Details away from the puck will probably be the biggest thing."

Celebrini told reporters yesterday that he would make his return to the lineup. The No. 1 pick also confirmed that he was dealing with a hip injury.

"He's got to protect himself. I don't think it's a huge concern, to be honest with you," Warsofsky said about Celebrini. "I think he's a smart enough player. It was a unique injury, the hit he took, driving the net, and all the other things that went with it. So there's not much concern."

Celebrini said he does his best to avoid contact, but he can't control what other teams do and isn't concerned about the possibility of being a target on the ice.

"I can't really control what they think or what they're going to do. I've taken the time to best prepare myself for coming back and make sure I'm as healthy as possible," Celebrini said.

Celebrini has skated with Mikael Granlund and Tyler Toffoli during today's morning skate. He was also on the top powerplay unit.

"He's obviously a highly skilled player with a good motor, self-driven, [and] competitive. The more players of those types that we have, the better we're going to be in the long run," Warsofsky said. "He'll give us, obviously, a boost, but you know, we got to make sure we're playing as a team, more importantly."

Dellandrea returns to the Sharks lineup after blocking a shot with his hand against the Vegas Golden Knights on Oct. 26

"It was tough. I feel pretty good and felt like [I was] getting better every game," Dellandrea said. "To have an injury like that where you're out for a bit puts a little setback, but it's part of the game."

Dellandrea skated on the Sharks' fourth line in the morning skate with Nico Sturm and Carl Grundstrom.
