San Jose Sharks defense prospect Eric Pohlkamp is turning into a superstar player for Denver University.

Pohlkamp was named NCHC Defenseman of the Week after scoring two goals and two assists in two games against Yale last weekend. In eight games for DU this season, the 2023 5th-round pick has four goals and five assists.

Pohlkamp transferred from Bemidji State to the 2024 NCAA champions at DU. He played a limited role for Team USA during the 2024 World Juniors but could be a top pairing player in 2025.

Pohlkamp is on a seven-game points streak, and his team has been ranked No. 1 in the nation since the start of the season. He is second on the team in points by defensemen, as only 2024 first-round pick Zeev Buium is ahead of Pohlkamp's nine points with ten.

The Sharks have seemingly found another diamond in the rough defenseman from the 2023 NHL Draft. Luca Cagnoni is a 2023 4th-round pick and leads all San Jose Barracuda defensemen in points with nine in nine games.
