The San Jose Sharks got an incredible performance from Mackenzie Blackwood in their 1-0 win over the New Jersey Devils, but they played structured and connected for most of the game.
Blackwood stopped 44 shots, and each player gave nothing but ultimate praise for him.
Fabian Zetterlund called Blackwood the best goalie in the NHL right now.
"Today? I'll take it today," Blackwood joked. "Tomorrow, eh, I don't know, we'll see. I appreciate that [from him]."
San Jose blocked 22 shots, and each time there was a block, hit, or other good play for the team, the bench gave more energy than at any point this season.
"That's everything. You can't do anything in this league alone," Blackwood said. "Goaltending, forwards, defensively, you can't. It's a team. So when you got the team rolling like that, feeding off each other, picking up blocks and hard out to the point, and doing all the right things, it's contagious."
William Eklund and Zetterlund were asked by their head coach to impact a game more, and Zetterlund's response to how he felt the duo played can only come from a player who had fun playing hockey.
Until the third period, the Sharks played a strong, structured game, and Warsofsky just wants to find a full game like that.
"It's good to see that. When we play the right way, and we're consistent with our structure and our effort, we can play with teams, and we can win hockey games," Warsofsky said. "We just got to find that consistency and I thought we did a really good job of that, the first two periods."
Warsofsky finished his press conference with, "I mean, winning is fun," when asked if the bench had a good time tonight.
The Sharks will need to ensure they don't get too high in spirit after their 1-0 win, as they need to focus on tomorrow's game in Philadelphia against the Flyers.
