The San Jose Sharks claimed defenseman Ty Emberson off waivers from the New York Rangers.
The San Jose Sharks announced that they have claimed defenseman Ty Emberson from the New York Rangers.
Emberson was drafted No. 73 overall in 2018 by the Arizona Coyotes. During the 20-21 season, Emberson was the Captain of the Wisconsin Ice Hockey team.
Last season with the AHL's Hartford Wolf Pack, Emberson was voted the league's best defensive defenseman in the Eastern Conference.
In 69 games for Hartford, Emberson finished with 27 points (7 goals, 20 assists). He ranked third on the team in points and assists among defensemen and was second in plus/minus among team skaters.
The Hockey News' New York Rangers site editor Jonny Lazarus said Emberson likes to keep his game simple.
"Seems to be a simple player," Lazarus said. "I didn't see a ton of him, but he doesn't overcomplicate things and is a solid puck-moving defenseman."
