The Los Angeles Kings showed the San Jose Sharks what a playoff team looks like as they beat the San Jose Sharks 4-1 on Tuesday night.

David Rittich made his Kings debut, making 14 saves. Anze Kopitar continues to have a terrific season, finishing with a goal and an assist. Trevor Moore, Alex Laferriere, and Trevor Lewis scored the other goals for LA.

Kaapo Kahkonen got the start for San Jose, making 33 stops. Jacob MacDonald scored his fifth goal of the season. San Jose's offense has gone missing after scoring a lot of goals on the six-game road trip.

"I thought we had a good first period, and then we stunk for two periods," Sharks head coach David Quinn said. "That was men amongst boys in the second and third period. I thought they were quicker and [had] more conviction. [They were] more physical. That second goal really deflated us."

The Sharks continue to deal with multiple injuries as they once again have to juggle the lineup.

"There's more to it than I think that the average viewer might see," Henry Thrun said about playing his off-side. "There's a lot through the neutral zone that I think you're limited to, particularly moving the puck. It's really hard to make a cross-ice pass or to get the puck going north because you see a lot of pucks on your backhand. It's something that I've spent some seasons doing."

Quinn was complimentary of Thrun's game.

"He tries his ass off. He's coachable, and these are great experiences for him," Quinn said about Thrun.

Anze Kopitar has a yawning cage to shoot at on the powerplay to give the Kings a 1-0 lead with 2:12 left in the first. Kopitar continues to score at 36 years old. That was his 13th goal and 28th point in 28 games this season.

San Jose couldn't get much going in the first period. They were outshot 12-5 and continued to struggle on the penalty kill.

Kevin Fiala finds Trevor Moore for the goal through the middle of the ice. Moore was in on a partial breakaway and went bar-down on Kahkonen. It was Moore's 15th goal of the season.

Alex Laferriere gets a deflection in front to extend the Kings' lead to 3-0. Vlasic was late getting in position to defend.

The Sharks saw what a Stanley Cup-contending team looks like in the second period. They were outshot 11-4 in the frame.

"They are one of the best teams on the road," Tomas Hertl said. "They come hard on every puck in the O-zone. They were quick on us."

Trevor Lewis ices the game with a shorthanded empty net goal.

Jacob MacDonald gets his fifth goal of the season on the powerplay with a blast from the point.
