Darren Yamashita-USA TODAY Sports - Mike Grier Says He's Evaluating Everything; Addresses Sharks Directly

With the San Jose Sharks in the middle of the rebuild, the expectation was that the team would struggle.

Nobody expected the team to start 0-10-1 and give up ten goals in back-to-back games.

GM Mike Grier told THN that he addressed the team directly before today's practice. He expressed that what is going on is not acceptable.

"I met with the players today. I've been meeting with the coaching staff over the last few days trying to put my finger on what's going on and what we can do better to correct this," Grier said. "Everyone knows what the standard is and what I expect of them."

After the game against the Pittsburgh Penguins, Sharks head coach David Quinn told the media he wasn't worried about his job security. While that is true for now, Grier said that if things don't change soon, then he will be evaluating everything.

"[If] the response isn't there and I'm not seeing what I need to see, then everything will be evaluated, and I'm sure there'll be some changes made," Grier said.

That goes for more than just the coaches as well. Grier feels that the message that Quinn is sending is still resonating.

"I think the players respect Quinn, and I think one of his biggest qualities is that he communicates well," Grier explained. "I think the players know what's expected of them. I think they know where they stand on him."

Grier doesn't sound like a GM who will be afraid to make changes.

"If things aren't getting better, then everything's got to be looked at," Grier said. "Like I said, right now, I think the players are still buying in. Everyone can be better. The players, the coaches, and myself, we can all do a little bit more and all be better."

Grier met with reporters for 45 minutes about all kinds of topics, so there will be more coming out from today's discussion with the San Jose Sharks GM.
