The San Jose Sharks (6-17-2) head to UBS Arena to take on the New York Islanders (10-7-6) for the first time this season.
Head coach David Quinn confirmed that Filip Zadina will return to the lineup. Zadina has not played since No. 24 against the Montreal Canadiens. Quinn told the media he had been dealing with a "nagging upper-body" injury.
Matt Benning will miss tonight's game for an undisclosed reason, and Marc-Edouard Vlasic will take his place.
Ryan Carpenter was placed on IR for a mid-body injury that even Quinn was surprised about.
"I got the report the next morning, and I was like, when did this happen," Quinn said. "It was very late in the game."
Nico Sturm told THN he was dealing with a little soft tissue injury but was good to go tonight. He did not play against the New York Rangers on Sunday.
Jacob MacDonald will once again play center for the Sharks tonight.
"The thing I like about him, period, is that he always plays with a pace and with an edge," Quinn said about MacDonald. "Regardless of the position he's in, he brings value to your lineup."
Kaapo Kahkonen will get the nod in goal for San Jose. He was terrific in his last start, stopping 44 shots in a 6-3 over the New Jersey Devils.
Projected Sharks lines:

Zetterlund-Granlund-Duclair
