Darren Dreger of TSN thinks the Edmonton Oilers should look to the San Jose Sharks for goaltending help.
It is no secret that the Oilers have struggled defensively and in goal this season. Edmonton's .868 save % ranks dead last in the NHL.
Jack Campbell was waived, and Stuart Skinner has just four wins in 12 games.
On TSN's OverDrive today, Dreger suggested that Oilers GM Ken Holland should consider trading for Sharks goalie Mackenzie Blackwood.
Despite the record the Sharks have, Blackwood has been excellent. Blackwood's 403 saves this season rank second in the NHL. 143 of those shots have been considered high-danger, and he has stopped 118, putting him in the 98th percentile.
Dreger said that Holland may be out of a job after this season.
"He's in an expiring year in his contract; he's not coming back as GM in Edmonton."
If Holland trades for Blackwood and gets the Oilers back on track, his job could be saved.
