The San Jose Sharks still don't know when Logan Couture could return.
The San Jose Sharks have been without their captain the entire season. Head coach David Quinn gave the media some updates on him and more.
Logan Couture suffered the injury a couple of weeks before training camp. Although he has returned to the ice a couple of times, the centerman has had a couple of setbacks.
"No. He still isn't skating," Quinn said today about another possible setback. "We evaluated the whole situation and just saw time off would be the best approach right now. It wasn't anything drastic that set him back."
Quinn said that it is just a pain management issue for Couture.
Defenseman Matt Benning has returned to the ice the last two days. Quinn said that he is getting closer.
"I just talked to him today. He's feeling better for sure," Quinn said.
Benning was placed on IR on Oct. 31 and could be close to returning.
Alexander Barabanov has been skating after practice during the last week. He began to skate without a glove on his injured left hand but is now wearing one.
Barabanov has only worked on skating and hasn't done any work with a puck, suggesting there is still some recovery time.
"It's tough for me to put a timeline on it," Quinn said Tuesday. "You don't ever want to rush it, but he's making good progress, probably ahead of the curve a little bit."
Barabanov would be a welcome sight to the Sharks' forward core, which has missed his playmaking ability.
Jacob MacDonald reaggravated the injury that plagued him during the start of the Sharks season. Quinn said that he would be out for at least a week. He was expected to play on Tuesday but was a late scratch.
