The San Jose Sharks will be without their top two centers for some time as Logan Couture suffered a setback to his groin injury.
Couture did not practice for the third straight day since the team returned from its bye week and All-Star break. Sharks head coach David Quinn told media members that the captain suffered some setback to the injury that kept him out for most of the season.
Quinn told Sheng Peng and Curtis Pashelka that Couture's injury is week-to-week. Based on the history of how the captain's injury has been described, this could mean that there is no actual timeline.
The Sharks are headed north on Wednesday to face the Winnipeg Jets. They will quickly fly west to play the Calgary Flames the next night.
San Jose is also without Tomas Hertl, who will undergo a procedure to clean out his left knee of loose cartilage. GM Mike Grier described Hertl's injury timeline as "several weeks."
The Sharks will continue to lead the league in man games lost due to injury after a glimmer of hope of being healthy was shattered.
