Thank you to everyone who participated in the halfway point San Jose Sharks survey!
Thank you to everyone who participated in the halfway point San Jose Sharks survey!
Like last time, I will go question by question and give fans the results! There were 97 surveys filled out.
Tomas Hertl is the runaway winner, a change from the first survey, as the fans voted Mackenzie Blackwood MVP last time.
Hertl is the Sharks All-Star this season and, up until recently, has been the driving force behind a lot of the offense. Hertl has 13 goals and 17 assists this season.
Mikael Granlund has been catching up to Hertl but has picked up an injury and is week-to-week.
This question didn't have a chart attached, but Granlund was written down 26 times, the most out of the 91 responses.
Granlund's career looked like it was on a massive downswing after his struggles with the Pittsburgh Penguins last season. He has come to San Jose this season and is quietly having one of the best seasons of his career.
In 38 games, he has five goals and 24 assists.
The Sharks' future could hang on how the 2024 NHL draft lottery turns out. Fans are pretty optimistic, but based on the 3.32 average rating of optimism, there is a sense that more is needed for success.
Willam Eklund, Will Smith, and Quentin Musty could benefit from a Macklin Celebrini next season.
It is no secret Anthony Duclair is on the trade block for the San Jose Sharks. His time in San Jose has been underwhelming from a performance standpoint.
He has been a revelation for the young players in the room, like Fabian Zetterlund and Eklund. But he isn't there to be a mentor. He was brought in to score goals and hasn't done so.
It has been a tough adjustment for the winger after playing in the Stanley Cup Final last year with the Florida Panthers. Fans believe he or goalie Kaapo Kahkonen will be the first to go before the trade deadline.
Eklund has struggled offensively for the last month. He has 18 points and looks on pace to finish around 35 for the season. Barring a hot streak, the 47 fans who voted 20-35 points look correct.
Fans are still somewhat behind David Quinn and his staff for the San Jose Sharks. Quinn has done an excellent job connecting with his team and doing his best to get the most out of them.
Ty Emberson has been a great addition to the Sharks. The fan voting was spread out on this question, but he led the way with 12 votes.
Justin Bailey was right behind him with 11.
These two have arguably been the best additions to the team not named Mikael Granlund.
Will Smith leads the way, which is no surprise. The 2023 No. 3 pick should be a star in the NHL for years to come.
