The San Jose Sharks placed winger Givani Smith on waivers.
Smith has played little this season (6GP), and if he goes unclaimed, he will join the San Jose Barracuda. He has not recorded a point this season but had one goal and three assists in 36 games last season.
The winger is in the final year of a two-year contract with an AAV of $800K.
This move could signal Barclay Goodrow's return after he dealt with an upper-body injury he suffered against the Ottawa Senators.
The Sharks will visit the Carolina Hurricanes tomorrow night. This move also bodes well for Ethan Cardwell's continued stay with the NHL club. Marc-Edouard Vlasic could also return from season-opening injured reserve.
